The Camel Who Wanted to Play the Saxophone

This is a gentle story thought of a time I was practising playing my saxophone, looked upon by inquisitive camels. They are beautiful, gentle creatures, and even quite intelligent. So why couldn’t one of them have an adventure alongside some of the really friendly local people? They too live a much slower pace of life than some of us, but they seem to be far more content. I hope it gives an idea of how we should value people in their diversity.

The Cake Man

The Queen was soon to celebrate her birthday with a special party.

Inside the castle, the King had suggested that there should be a competition to see who could bake the very best birthday cake.

Every day, new cakes were sent up to the Queen from the kitchen.

But the Queen was very grumpy. In fact, she said she did not like any of the cakes at all!

The King became very worried indeed. “Look

for a new cook, far and wide. The Queen is not

happy,” the King cried.

Just in time, a rather strange new cook arrived at the castle gates. On his back, he carried a huge stack of delicious and most unusual cakes. But these were no ordinary cakes. Something very unexpected and magical was about to happen in the castle and things would never, ever be quite the same again!

The Bump

It’s been a long, cold winter and the woodland animals are fed up and hungry. When a pile of grain is accidentally spilled in the lane by a passing trailer, it gives Badger an idea. What would happen if the animals built a bump across the road? Everyone works very hard, except Fox, who pretends to be busy and gives lots of instructions. Now they are waiting to see what will come down the lane, and they don’t have to wait very long. “Quick! Hide!” screeches Crow from the tree-tops. “Something’s coming!”

This is an exciting and very funny story for young children. They will love waiting to see what drops into the lane, and how the animals use these items. The ending shows the importance of recycling.
